For our organizations, the fight against violence is deeply personal. On January 18, 2016, Tevin D. Kendrick was murdered in North Carolina. On November 9, 2016, Kyfen M. Jones was murdered in Pennsylvania. Two sons. Two lives taken. One family forever changed.

Our Position

Standing Firm Against Violence

First Sergeant Cares and I Am A Phenomenal Woman stand firmly against gun violence, domestic violence, and the senseless loss of life in our communities.

We believe responsible, law-abiding citizens should not be treated as criminals. Our advocacy is focused on keeping firearms out of the hands of people who are legally prohibited from possessing them and strengthening effective background-check measures, while respecting the rights of responsible, law-abiding citizens.

We also stand with survivors of domestic violence. No woman, man, or child should have to live in fear inside the place they call home. Abuse should never be normalized, excused, or ignored.

Our mission is not about politics. It is about people. It is about families. It is about life.

ENOUGH FAMILIES HAVE SUFFERED. ENOUGH LIVES HAVE BEEN LOST. VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER.

We will continue to support awareness, prevention, education, responsible gun ownership, survivor resources, and community programs that work to reduce violence.

We will continue speaking the names of Tevin D. Kendrick and Kyfen M. Jones, not simply because of how their lives ended, but because their lives mattered.
